Preface:-
At present, the problem of unemployment is prevailing around the world and almost all the countries are suffering from it i.e. there is no country which is free from this problem whether it is developed country or underdeveloped country.
Unemployment occurs due to various reasons, especially the youth section suffers from utter despair. Addressing this formidable problem is a major problem of the present times. Unemployment is one of the major obstacles in the development of any country, unemployment is a very serious issue in India too. Unemployment has many types of negative effects on economic development as well as on the individual and the whole society simultaneously.
Which we will discuss through various points.

Meaning of unemployment-
If a person is eligible and willing to work, but fails to get employment, then that situation is called unemployment. That is, a person who is not beneficially employed in any productive activity is unemployed.
We can also understand this in the way that a person willing to work at prevailing wage rates is called unemployed if he does not get the job according to his ability.

Types of unemployment
Broadly, we can divide unemployment into two parts, permanent and temporary.
The types of unemployment can be divided into the following different parts:
1. Seasonal unemployment- In this, the business ends with the changing of seasons i.e. work is received at certain times of the year. Such as agriculture and agro-based industries.
2. Structural unemployment - It is unemployment caused by changes in the structure of the economy. This is the result of technological advancement and economic development.
3. Technological unemployment - Unemployment arising due to improvement in production technology and use of new machines.
4. Frictional unemployment - Unemployment arising between two employment periods. Such as change of work, strike etc.
5. Cyclical Unemployment - Unemployment arising due to reduction in aggregate demand or business cycles.
6. Hidden or Disguised Unemployment - In this, a person may see an improvement in employment but his contribution to total output is zero or negligible. It is found in unemployment and agricultural activities in rural areas of developed countries.

Structural and hidden unemployment is found in developing countries because of the agrarian economy whereas in developed countries, active and constructive unemployment is more common.
India belongs to developing countries.
Due to unemployment-

5. Jobless development - With rapid economic growth, there should be a substantial increase in employment opportunities, but this is not happening.
6. Lack of political will and systematic planning- Due to lack of political will, there were excessive leakages in unemployment prevention programs whose benefits did not reach the target persons.
7. Moral Fall- People's moral decline is also responsible for increasing unemployment, in which some people are also collecting money from corruption, red tape, immoral work etc. and lack of true devotion is also mainly responsible.
8. Corona Epidemic- Within the present time, the corona epidemic ie Kovid-19 has completely stalled economic activities around the world, which is causing mass unemployment rate and causing starvation problem in front of people.
